The following images are all painted from a photo using the brush tool in Adobe Photoshop. The most frequently asked question I get is "how long does it take to paint that" and the honest answer is roughly 15-20 hours from start to finish. If the original photo is small and grainy then the process will be a bit more challenging and add some guess work depending on the amount of distortion. If that is the case then I just use a little more artistic license and make it work as a whole. The images below are a few examples of projects I completed. I included the original images so you can see the changes made in the process.
The subject was on a different background as you can see in the upper left. I was able to merge the two original photos to make it look like it was one.
In this original photo I was able to omit some items as requested by the client, such as the tennis ball,picture and couch cushions.
Here in this photo all that was added was some saturation and warm details that were in the fur and the multi colored quilt they were resting on.
The original photo did not have the tail of the dog in the frame, so I needed to get more reference from the client in order to merge it all together.
This was my first attempt at making a pet portrait. The original photo was a small image and it was tricky to get the fur to look natural, but I was happy with the outcome and used this as my main example of the before and after process.
This image was rewarding in the end because it was a memorial image for the firehouse and their dalmatian who passed away at only 7 years old.
And for my last example I have the sweet late companion of my Brother's family. I am very proud of this particular piece and I feel like it captured the feeling in the photo
